Addiction: The Taboo Subject, educational event 9/24 and 10/3.

The most dangerous belief a parent can have is "Not my kid. Not my family. Not in my backyard." The truth is, it's already here.

Our community is experiencing a deadly epidemic and we need your help. Will you be part of the solution?

Join us for an eye-opening, free event that will strip down this stigmatized topic that often is only spoken about in whispers. You will hear from people who have survived addiction and found a full life in recovery, from family members grieving the loss of a loved one, a neuroscientist in recovery, and from local leaders in prevention and treatment.

Topics the program will cover:

-What is addiction – a disease or a choice?

-The prescription painkiller and heroin epidemic – how did we get here and what can we do about it?

-Common signs of substance misuse – how to spot them and respond to them.

-How you can fight back as an informed community member.

-Local and national resources for help

All participants can take home a free drug deactivation pouch which will safely neutralize any unused medications you may have, from the comfort of your own home. No waiting for drug take-back days, or searching for a drop box.
